City to Develop Trail System at Sunshine Park

Roseburg, OR – The City of Roseburg Parks and Recreation invites all residents to attend a community meeting to discuss a potential trail system at Sunshine Park. The meeting will be held in the Ford Room at the Roseburg Public Library on Wednesday, February 12th, at 6:00 pm.

“Sunshine Park is a recreational gem,” says Parks Program Manager Kris Ammerman. “We want to enhance the park’s offerings by developing a trail system that hikers, bikers and walkers can enjoy. Staff are looking forward to hearing feedback from the public on this important step in improving Sunshine Park’s recreational opportunities.”

The City of Roseburg, working with trail construction firm Ptarmigan Ptrails, have drafted design concepts for a trail system located on roughly 40 acres of land at Sunshine Park. At the meeting, staff will discuss the designs and gather input from attendees.

Sunshine Park, located five miles east of downtown Roseburg off of Diamond Lake Blvd, is a 90-acre park with two baseball fields, three softball fields two picnic pavilions, and a playground. The City developed the park in 2001. Since its development, the park has become a favorite spot for both visitors and residents.
