Virtual Native Storytime on Zoom & Facebook Live
Roseburg, OR – Roseburg Public Library will host a live virtual Native Storytime for youth on Zoom on Thursday, December 10, and Thursday, December 17 at 10:30 a.m.
Come to a special virtual storytime with Karen Kitchen (Osage Nation) to hear Native stories and songs. There also will be a Q&A time to learn more about Native songs and stories. This program is especially appropriate for preschoolers and early elementary-aged children.
Karen Kitchen (Osage Nation) is a song carrier and Pre-K-12 educator with three decades of service in Indian Country. Her passions include advancing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) engagement among Native youth and families and Native Montessori Pre-K classrooms in public schools. Her TEK (traditional ecological knowledge) collaborations include Roots of Wisdom, Celebrate Urban Birds, Lenses on the Sky, and the Oregon Historical Society’s History Hub and Experience Oregon. As a member of the Power of 30 ICBOs (independent community-based organizations) through Cornell Lab of Ornithology, she is involved with a National Science Foundation-funded project titled Noise, People and Birds.
The program is accessible only during the live performance, through Zoom or Facebook Live. Go to the library’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/roseburglibrary, and click Events to register; a Facebook account is not required. After registering, individuals will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the event.
