Fall 2021 burn permits available Oct. 1

The Roseburg Fire Department will issue fall residential burn permits from Friday, October 1, through Sunday, October 31. Residential yard waste is the only material that may be burned and all materials must be burned in a debris pile.

Youth Summer Reading Program Wrap-up

Roseburg Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is Youth Service Librarian Aurora Ropp’s favorite time of the year. “I love doing fun programs, encouraging kids and teens to read for pleasure, and working to connect people with books they enjoy,” said Ropp.

Fire Department encourages preparedness

During National Preparedness Month, the Roseburg Fire Department encourages residents to take time to prepare for potential disasters and other emergencies. “I view being prepared as a form of insurance, just like home or car insurance,” said Roseburg Fire Chief Monte Bryan.

Intermittent fire station closures

Roseburg Fire Department may intermittently close Fire Station 2 on Harvard Avenue during the current COVID-19 crisis due to staffing shortages. Every effort is being made to limit closures and reopen the station as fast as possible if a closure is necessary.

City buildings closed for Labor Day

Roseburg city buildings will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, for Labor Day. However, police officers and firefighters will continue to provide public safety throughout the holiday weekend. City parks, the Fir Grove Park Splash Pad and the Stewart Park Golf Course will be open.

Stewart Parkway maintenance starts Sunday

City contractors will perform two nights of road maintenance on Stewart Parkway just north of the South Umpqua River starting this weekend. Pavement rehabilitation work will be done between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday, August 29, and Monday, August 30.

Roseburg Swift Watch returns to Fir Grove

Roseburg Parks and Recreation Department, Umpqua Valley Audubon Society and the BLM invite the public to Fir Grove Park near Umpqua Valley Arts’ Clay Place on Friday evenings, Sept. 3 and 10, between 6:30 p.m. and sunset to watch seasonal migration displays by Vaux’s Swifts.
