Economic commission applications sought
ROSEBURG, Ore. – Looking for a new way to serve your community?
Consider serving on the Roseburg Economic Development Commission in the new year.
The commission is taking applications for three vacancies that will exist on the commission as of Sunday, Dec. 31. The City has extended a deadline for applications to fill the vacancies to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22.
Applicants for all three vacancies must be Roseburg residents or own property or a business in city limits.
Commissioners serve three-year terms unless they’re filling an unexpired vacancy. Two of the vacancies will arise when the terms of Commissioners Don Baglien and Leah Jones expire Dec. 31 as neither has opted to serve another term. The two people appointed to those vacancies will serve three-year terms through Dec. 31, 2026.
The third vacancy arose when Commissioner Misty Danskey resigned due to a conflicting commitment. The person appointed to fill that seat will serve the remainder of the term until Dec. 31, 2025.
The Economic Development Commission meets at 3:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of January, April, July and October in City Hall Council Chambers to encourage cooperation between public and private sectors to provide effective community economic development and tourism promotion programs, and to provide a forum for evaluating and overseeing use of the City’s transient room tax revenues for programs and events to promote local tourism efforts.
To apply, please fill out this form or email info@cityofroseburg.org. Please email completed applications to info@cityofroseburg.org. Residents can also pick up applications by visiting the Administration Department at City Hall, 900 SE Douglas Ave., and then mail in applications to that address or drop applications off at the City Hall lobby.
To fill these vacancies, the Economic Development Commission Chair – City Councilor Patrice Sipos -- will review applications and then make a motion to the entire City Council recommending how the vacancies should be filled. There won’t be interviews with the City Council.
