City buildings to close for New Year’s; Winter Break kids' activities

ROSEBURG, Ore. – City of Roseburg buildings will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, for the New Year holiday.

Roseburg City Hall, the Roseburg Public Safety Center, Roseburg Public Library and other City buildings will be closed to the public. Police and firefighters will continue to provide public safety throughout the holiday.

Lobbies at City Hall, 900 S.E. Douglas Ave., and the Public Safety Center, 700 S.E. Douglas Ave., are normally open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. but closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

On Tuesday, Dec. 27, the library at 1409 N.E. Diamond Lake Blvd. is offering a free Grab-and-Go snowflake craft kit while supplies last.

This week, the library is offering Winter Break activities from 3 to 4:30 p.m. All supplies will be provided. While the programs are aimed at elementary school-aged children, children of all ages from preschool to teens will be welcome. On Tuesday, Dec. 27, Legos, Marbleworks and Magna-Tiles will be available. STEAM Ozobots are offered Wednesday, Dec. 28. Crafts will be offered Thursday, Dec. 29.

Also, Winter Reading programs offered by the Friends of the Roseburg Public Library will soon draw to a close. Youths must submit their reading logs to the library by 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. Adults must turn in their reading logs by Wednesday, Jan. 4.
