City offices to close on Veterans Day
ROSEBURG, Ore. – City of Roseburg buildings will be closed Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
Roseburg City Hall, the Roseburg Public Safety Center, Roseburg Public Library and other City buildings will be closed to the public. The City Council meeting that would normally be held that night has been rescheduled to Monday, Nov. 18.
Police and firefighters will continue to provide public safety on Veterans Day, a federal holiday to honor all vets who’ve served in war or peace. Veterans Day marks the end of World War I or “the war to end all wars” on Nov. 11, 1918, and was originally known as Armistice Day, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Roseburg parks will be open to the public. Lobbies at City Hall, 900 SE Douglas Ave., and Public Safety Center, 700 SE Douglas Ave., are normally open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
The 69th Douglas County Veterans Day Parade will be held in downtown Roseburg at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11. The grand marshals are Vietnam War Veterans. The parade is organized by our community partners, the Douglas County Veterans Day Parade Committee.
