Outreach ushers in parking changes
ROSEBURG, OR – People doing business downtown will notice parking changes as a new parking services company begins community outreach this week.
Soon, drivers will see signs for free but time-limited parking on streets in the downtown core – Jackson Street, Main Street and several cross streets.
While free, on-street customer parking spots still remain, most spaces in the downtown core will soon be time-limited to two or three hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Signs will be installed over the next two weeks. In addition, metered parking will remain on outlying downtown streets, said Roseburg Community Development Department Director Stuart Cowie.
ACE Parking of San Diego has already begun collaborating with City officials after winning a parking enforcement contract for downtown Roseburg and the Laurelwood neighborhood last month. ACE employees are doing community outreach and will be issuing warning notices for the first half of February before active ticketing begins near the end of that month. Starting this week, ACE will staff a downtown office at 612 S.E. Jackson St., Suite 5.
Residents and visitors who need to be downtown longer than two or three hours may be able to park for free on Level 1 in the 299-stall Downtown Parking Garage at S.E. Washington Avenue and S.E. Rose Street. The Roseburg Public Works Department cleaned the garage last week. In addition, a free parking lot with 52 stalls is available at S.E. Cass Avenue and S.E. Rose Street.
Starting in February, ACE will issue all monthly parking permits for on-street residential in the Laurelwood neighborhood and downtown surface lots and parking garage levels 2 and 3.
Other downtown parking lots include the Armory Parking Lot (Kane Street and Washington Avenue), Court Street Parking Lot (600 block of Court Street), Phillips Parking Lot (800 block of S.E. Stephens Street) and Shalimar Parking Lot (700 block of S.E. Stephens Street).
