Edenbower Boulevard temporary closure

RoseburgAdmin

ROSEBURG, Ore. – A section of NW Edenbower Boulevard from Aviation Drive to Stephens Street will close for two nights next week as work on a 24-inch water transmission pipe replacement project continues.

NW Edenbower Boulevard between NW Aviation Drive and NE Stephens Street will close to all traffic between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 21, as a contractor trenches about 100 feet across the intersection of Stephens Street and Edenbower Boulevard.

Traffic control signs will be in place to detour motorists around the closure. Traffic moving east on Edenbower Boulevard will be required to detour onto NW Aviation Drive to access NE Stephens Street. Westbound traffic will detour around the closure by using NW Stewart Parkway and NW Aviation Drive, or using Hooker Road to NW Aviation Drive.

The work is part of a project that began Monday, March 11, to exchange about 4,100 linear feet of 20-inch-diameter steel water transmission main pipe installed in 1934 with new, 24-inch-diameter ductile iron pipe in the southbound lane of NE Stephens Street between Isabell Avenue and Newton Creek Road. The project also has required weeknight closures of the southbound lane of NE Stephens Street.

The contractor, Cradar Enterprises, is on schedule and making good progress, said Roseburg Public Works Design/Construction Manager Ryan Herinckx.

The work is part of the fourth phase of a long-term project to replace 4.5 miles of aging water transmission pipe primarily in Stephens Street from the Water Treatment Plant to the Reservoir Hill Complex.

The City appreciates motorists’ understanding and patience throughout the project, and asks motorists to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
