Filling Public Works Commission vacancies

RoseburgAdmin

ROSEBURG, Ore. – Looking for a new way to serve your community in the new year?

The City is taking applications for two vacancies on the Public Works Commission, which serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council.

People appointed to these volunteer positions serve a three-year term unless they’re serving the remainder of a term. One volunteer appointed to the Public Works Commission will finish a term that expires Dec. 31, 2025, and the other will serve a three-year term that expires Dec. 31, 2027.

The positions remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed weekly as received.

One opening can be filled by someone who lives in city limits, while the other vacancy can be filled by someone who lives within Roseburg’s urban services boundary but outside city limits. Residency requirements are different for each commission and may vary between seats on the same commission.

The Public Works Commission meets at 3:30 p.m. on second Thursdays of each month to provide long-range planning and strategies for financing of capital improvements including sidewalks, lighting and storm drainage; and to consider rules governing operations of the water system and its rate structure.

Online applications can be found via the City’s “Commissions” webpage. Residents also can request applications via email at info@roseburgor.gov. Completed online applications should be emailed to info@roseburgor.gov. In addition, residents can pick up applications by visiting the Administration Department at City Hall, 900 SE Douglas Ave., and then mail in applications to that address or drop applications off at the City Hall lobby.

The commission chair will recommend candidates to the Mayor and City Council.
